Today a girl named Betty with two broken legs is brought by the ambulance. The paramedics already have splinted her legs. The X-rays show that they are indeed both broken and need to be casted. What Betty doesn´t know yet that they need to be fixated at a special angle to let her fractures heal properly. After her both legs are immobilised with plaster casts, the spreader bar is attached to keep her legs as rigid as possible. Additionally for the first few days her legs are kept in traction, too.
